Because the fear is loud.
The guilt is loud.
The shame is loud.
Your mind is haunted by slogans you never consciously agreed to—but still believe.
And that line about not being able to trust your own thinking?
It sank in deep.
You’re starting to see it now—the ultimate con job was getting you to doubt yourself.
And you do. You second-guess everything.
You wonder if you’re selfish.
Ungrateful.
Delusional.
You wonder if you’re going to relapse and die.
Or worse—go crawling back to meetings, tail between your legs,
begging for forgiveness and resetting your f*cking day count.
You try to shake it—But you can’t stop thinking, “What if they were right?”
And you can’t tell anyone what’s really going on.
The emotional rollercoaster is brutal enough without being ghosted by your old friends on top of it.
So you isolate, stuck in your head, trying to figure it out alone.
Because at this point, you don’t know who’s safe anymore.
You didn’t leave to rebel.
You left to be real.
And free.
But now you feel like you’re in free fall—cut off from the community that felt like family, wondering if you’ve lost your damn mind.
It’s not that you want to drink.
It’s that you want to live.
And you’re starting to realize— you’re still stuck.
Not in addiction.
Not in relapse.
But in programming.
Because even though you left AA… It hasn’t left you.
And that’s the part nobody warns you about:
The fear in your head.
The shame in your gut.
The guilt in your body.
The doubt in your soul.
But you’re not crazy.
You’re not broken.
You’re not doing it wrong.
You’re waking up.
That disorienting space between the life that saved you…
and the life that’s trying to be born.
And there is a name for what you’re feeling.
Exit trauma.
This is what it feels like to leave a high-control group.
It's the high control hangover.
You’re not doing it wrong–you’re doing it right.
The chaos you’re feeling?
It’s the program still running in your mind.
They told you your brain needed to be washed.
Now you’re realizing… it’s time to get it back.
You weren't just "in recovery."
You were IN a belief system that trained you to hand over your power.
They taught you to fear your own mind, to depend the group to survive,
and to believe that life beyond the program meant certain death.
That’s not recovery.
That’s programming.
I got sober in 2009.
Spent over a decade in AA.
Not just attending—I was all in.
Meetings in every time zone.
Coffee commitments.
Speaking in jails.
Crying at Bill Wilson’s grave.
But then I started noticing cracks in the ideology that I couldn’t unsee.
Moments of cognitive dissonance I couldn’t explain away.
I was afraid to leave.
Afraid I’d relapse.
Afraid I’d be judged.
Afraid I’d be shunned.
Afraid I’d die.
When I finally walked away, I thought the worst was over.
Instead, I found myself spiraling in self-doubt, shame, and isolation.
Haunted by slogans.
Gaslit by my own thoughts.
Terrified to speak the truth—because I didn’t know if I was allowed to.
I was still sober…
But I wasn’t free.
So I went deep.
I studied cults, trauma, the nervous system, emotional manipulation,
and every therapist-level training I could find on addiction and recovery...
...just trying to prove to myself it was okay to leave.
Suddenly I remembered that Bill Wilson was a salesman.
Then I mapped the Big Book like a sales page.
I questioned everything.
What I discovered changed everything.
The problem wasn’t me.
It was the programming.
I need to recover from recovery!
I needed to deprogram AA.
And then something unexpected happened.
A year after leaving AA,
I got diagnosed autistic.
Then later ADHD.
AuDHD.
Suddenly, everything made sense—why the ideology clicked so hard.
Why I followed the rules so fiercely.
Why I internalized it all so deeply.
AA wasn’t just speaking to my so-called “untreated alcoholism.”
It was speaking to my neurodivergence.
And I secretly believe a lot of folks in those rooms are neurodivergent too
—masking their true wiring, being told it’s character defects or their "disease,"
and trying to fix something that was never broken.
I didn’t have a fatal progressive disease.
I have a divergent brain.
But framing everything I was going through as
“alcoholism” and prescribing the 12 steps as the only solution
didn’t just miss what was really happening.
It actively pulled me further from myself.
I couldn’t see my true wiring because I was told it was wrong.
My sensitivity, my intensity, my pattern-spotting mind—my strengths—were labeled defects of character.
But once I started deprogramming, I could finally see what was mine… and what was never broken to begin with.
And that changed everything.
Because when you understand how your brain is actually wired,
you stop trying to fix yourself—and start building a life where your strengths work for you.
You don’t just “support” your brain.
You create a world where it can thrive.
You don’t need a “daily reprieve.”
You need a life that actually fits your brain.
If your gut's telling you to leave—if this page is hitting harder than the slogans ever did—then deep down you know:
You don’t need another meeting.
You don’t need to call your sponsor.
You don’t need to journal your “character defects” or write another f*cking 10th step.
You need your mind back.
And that starts with one thing: Deprogramming.

Because this isn’t just “recovery fatigue.”
It’s not “dry drunk syndrome.”
It’s not a sign you’re “going back out.”
And it sure as sh*t isn't "untreated alcoholism."
It’s the predictable result of long-term exposure to a high-control ideology.
The good news? Once you see the pattern—you can break it.
Evolving After Recovery is the only course designed specifically to
help you identify, unravel, and release AA’s psychological grip—so you can
finally think clearly, feel grounded, and trust yourself again.
This isn’t about hating AA.
It’s about deprogramming from it.
You don’t need more stepwork.
You need a system for getting free.
That’s what this is.
A soul meets science meets sass deprogramming process—designed for people just like you.
People who stayed long after it stopped serving them.
Who are now trying to navigate the wreckage
with no map, no language, and no support.
Until now.

The slogans are gone.

Understand exactly what you’re breaking free from. We’ll name the high control tactics so you can see the system clearly and stop blaming yourself for how hard this has been.
This is where the spell breaks. You’ll learn how AA shaped your thoughts without your consent—and how to dismantle the core beliefs that are still running in your mind. You’ll uncover “The Big Lie,” rewrite your truth, and finally start thinking clearly again.
What if what they called “untreated alcoholism” was actually just your neurodivergence? Here, we unpack how AA pathologized traits like sensitivity, intensity, and pattern recognition—and help you reclaim them as your superpowers.
You’ll name the emotional control tactics for what they are—spiritual gaslighting, narcissistic abuse, and cult-like control. This is where guilt starts to dissolve and boundaries get built. You’ll walk away with clarity, confidence, and scripts for real-life conversations.
This is your identity rebirth. You’ll reconnect with your truth, your voice, your joy—and stop waiting for permission to be yourself. We’ll trade spiritual obedience for soul-aligned expression, and build real internal safety without external validation.
Leaving AA can feel like social death. In this module, we’ll grieve the loss and build new soul-deep connections. You’ll learn how to spot safe people, find your kindred spirits, and stop apologizing for walking your own path.
AA did serve you. And here’s the wild part: You can recreate everything good about it—structure, support, connection, purpose—without the manipulation. You’ll learn how to self-source what you once outsourced.
This is your integration chapter. We go from survival to expansion. You’ll create a vision for what’s next, reconnect with your purpose, and step into your next evolution—rooted, grounded, and free.

Deprogramming isn’t just about feeling free. It’s about functioning again.
Because when you’re trapped in the high control hangover, here’s what it really costs you:
FOUCS: You can’t concentrate because you’re too busy running mental checks on whether you’re being “selfish,” “in your disease,” or “doing it wrong.” You question every instinct. Second-guess every decision. And waste precious energy managing fear instead of momentum.
TIME: How many hours have you spent spiraling? Ruminating? Googling to make sure you’re not crazy? Trying to figure it out on your own? That’s not freedom. That’s exhaustion.
RELATIONSHIPS: When you’re still wired to fear disapproval or rejection from the group, it’s hard to fully show up in new friendships, in intimacy, or even as a parent. You hide. You mask. You don’t feel safe to be seen. Because part of you is still afraid you’re wrong.
HEALTH: Chronic stress from unprocessed cognitive dissonance takes a real toll on your nervous system. It keeps you in fight-or-flight. Which means inflammation, sleep issues, burnout, hormone imbalances—and long-term, that’s a fast-track to autoimmune issues, anxiety, and pure depletion.
MONEY: When you don’t trust yourself, you don’t make bold moves. You delay decisions. You undercharge. You hide your voice. You can’t access your creativity or leadership because the voice in your head is still Bill W which keeps you stuck in survival mode.
The longer you wait to reclaim your mind, the longer you delay the life you’re meant to build.
This course isn’t just a nice idea.
It’s the path back to your life.
You don’t just reclaim your freedom.
You reclaim your time.
Your energy.
Your health.
Your capacity to lead.
Your ability to thrive.

This course was created and filmed in 2025—five years after I left AA
and began rebuilding my life from the inside out.
You’ll be one of the first to walk through this deprogramming process,
but the tools, insights, and frameworks inside are built from over a decade
of guiding others through deep transformation in my coaching programs.

There’s no shortage of therapy, recovery alternatives,
or trauma-informed tools out there.
But nothing quite like this.
Because this isn’t a course about recovering from alcohol.
It’s about deprogramming.
Most programs are designed to help you stay sober or manage your emotions.
Evolving After Recovery is different—it’s designed to help you break free
from the mind control tactics you didn’t even realize were still running your life.
This isn’t about blaming or bashing.
It’s about liberation.
You won’t be handed another script to follow—you’ll be guided through a process
of critically examining the one you’ve already internalized… and learning how to write your own.
I'm not a therapist with a clipboard.
I lived it, questioned it, and broke free—and now I'm handing you the map.
You’ll get the tools, insights, and frameworks I wish someone
had given me when I was trapped in the after recovery void.
You’ll laugh.
You’ll probably cry.
You’ll question everything you’ve ever been told about recovery—and maybe even yourself.
And most importantly?
You’ll get your mind, life, and power back.
And here’s something no other recovery course is talking about:
For sure Bill W. is legendary.
And AA was revolutionary.
This is still true for me.
It's just not the 1930's anymore.
We know better now. So we can do better now.
That’s why Module 3 is devoted entirely to unpacking neurodivergence.
Because if this is you too, you don’t need to fix your wiring.
You need to understand it.
And stop mistaking your brilliance for brokenness.

If you're here right now—confused, scared, angry, and not sure if you're losing your mind or finally waking up—you're not alone.
I've been exactly where you are.
I'm not a guru.
I'm not a therapist.
I'm not a doctor.
I'm not here to sell you a new dogma.
I'm just a woman who spent over a decade in AA, fully devoted to the program, and then when the cracks got too loud—walked away.
For a long time, I wasn't sure if it was safe to leave—or if I was walking straight
into jails, institutions or death.
But once I saw that the ideology possessed me,
I knew I needed to deprogram.
Now I'm here to share what I've learned—not as an expert, but as someone who lived it, studied the hell out of it, and found her way to freedom.
I swear.
I make jokes.
I laugh a lot.
I use science, soul, and sass.
I believe humor can heal
and the truth can set us free.
Yes, this work is deep.
But it's also liberating AF.
If you're looking for someone to hand you another script or be your new higher power...
That's not me.
But if you're ready to get your mind back
and walk your own path?
I'll walk with you.
I'm Kirsten.
The Sobriety Bestie.
Here to guide you to freedom.

Because if you don’t unravel the old ideology, you’ll never know who the f*ck you actually are. AA taught you to see your deepest traits as flaws, to doubt your instincts, and to outsource your identity to a group.
Deprogramming gives you your self back—so you can live from authenticity instead of fear. This isn’t just about leaving AA. It’s about finally meeting the version of you that was buried underneath the slogans.
You’ll get lifetime of course access to the core content, so you can revisit it whenever you need a reminder that you’re not crazy—you’re just deprogramming. New layers will hit every time you return. This isn’t just information—it’s integration.
There’s no “behind.” This is not school. This is an evolution. Some weeks will hit hard. Some will simmer quietly. You’re not here to win a gold star—you’re here to get free. Go at your own pace. You can’t do this wrong.
Good. That means you’re thinking for yourself. You don’t have to agree with me. In fact, I hope you don’t agree with everything I say. Because the whole point of this course is to help you reclaim your thinking.
Also, this course is for educational purposes only, and it’s meant to support you in critically examining beliefs you may have internalized without consent. What you do with that is completely up to you. I’m not here to tell you what to think. I’m here to help you remember that you can.
Yes. Module 8 is all about activating Growth Mode—where you stop trying to just recover and start creating what’s next. Purpose, connection, joy, dreams—it’s all in there. You won’t just untangle the past. You’ll start building your future.
Honestly? Probably. We’ll save her a seat. (Just kidding… unless?)
This course isn’t about fighting with your old crew—it’s about reclaiming your autonomy. You don’t owe anyone an explanation for your continued evolution. You’re allowed to grow, evolve, and walk your own path—even if it makes other people uncomfortable.
Nope. This course isn’t about hating AA—it’s about freeing yourself from its grip. You can love parts of it, feel grateful for what it gave you, and still decide to evolve beyond it. This is about liberation, not loyalty.
That fear isn’t proof you’re broken. It’s proof you’ve been phobia indoctrinated. We unpack this in depth inside the course, so you can finally separate truth from programming. You’ll get tools to rebuild internal trust, regulate your nervous system, and create safety without needing an external authority to feel okay. If you're in super early days recovery, you may also need a non dogmatic recovery group or solid therapist to help you get stable recovery.
That hesitation? That’s the programming. AA taught you to fear your own mind. To doubt your gut. To outsource truth. This course will help you rebuild that trust—and making this choice might be the very first step. You don’t need to be certain. You just need to be curious.
This course is a powerful complement to any therapeutic or healing path. Therapy is amazing—but most therapists aren’t familiar with high-control group dynamics or 12 step deprogramming. This course gives you the language and frameworks your therapist might not even know exist. Bring what you uncover here into your sessions—it’ll supercharge your evolution.
Evolving After Recovery isn’t a passive course you binge in a weekend—it’s a deep reclamation process. Because of that, there are no refunds after purchase. This boundary isn’t about being harsh. It’s about honoring the container. It keeps the space safe from internet trolls and people who aren’t truly ready to do the work.
If you’re unsure, take your time. Trust your body. Read the page again. Feel into it. This course isn’t going anywhere. But if you join—it’s because you’re ready. Ready to question. Ready to reclaim. Ready to evolve.
If you’ve made it this far down the page, you already are.
